Cops to take lesson from Aarushi case
Lucknow: The police academy in Moradabad and the various Police Training Centres (PTCs) in Uttar Pradesh will now include the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case in the curriculum.
According to sources, the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case will serve as an example for investigation and the lapses therein.
“Through this case, we will teach the cops how to address the crime scene, how to pick up and identify evidences, what precautions to take, how to handle the witnesses, what points should be noted and how the FIR should be worded.
The case is high profile and some of the lapses have taken place which not only delayed investigations but also generated considerable controversy,” said a senior police official.
The Aarushi-Hemraj case will also be a part of the refreshers’ courses that are offered to police officials in the state.
Senior officials believe that the Talwar couple had succeeded in misleading the investigators in the initial stages and had even concealed crucial evidences that could have solved the case at an earlier stage.
Officials says that with the changing face of crime in India, the culprits are becoming increasingly savvy and are capable of misleading cops in ways more than one.
“We need to think ahead of what is going on in the criminal’s mind and we have to put ourselves in their position to be able to do so. The crime scene is changing rapidly and we need to keep pace,” the official said.
