If he has his way, then Farhan Akhtar intends to take a short break next year, just so he can catch up on his quota of quality world cinema.
Apparently, in the early part of his career, Farhan had taken two years off to sit and watch films through the day. “He would watch films across genres, across languages — any and every film that needed to be seen for its quality. He watched approximately 2,000 films in that time. Now he’s decided that he wants to repeat it next year,” says a close friend of Farhan.
"Farhan won’t be able to take a long break considering his film commitments, but he’s definitely hoping to have at least a couple of months to devote to catching up on cinema," our source added.
Guess this is why when Farhan’s asked who taught him about cinema, his answer is always “Cinema”.
