Get people’s nod before split: Telugu Desam
Vijayawada: Stating that there would be no hurdles for government and political parties to proceed with the division of the state if people of both Seemandhra and Telangana were convinced over the issue, Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said that the Centre should find a solution that is mutually acceptable to people of all the regions in the state.
Speaking to the media here, Naidu accused the Congress of raising the Telangana issue just ahead of the general elections to gain votes.
“The Centre should consider the opinion of the people, the JACs, stakeholders and others in Seemandhra before dividing the state. Seemandhra has a bigger population compared to Telangana, unlike Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh,” he said.
Alleging that no one in the Centre has clarity on GoM, Naidu said that even the Prime Minister does not know what is happening with the GoM.
“Instead of trying to mitigate the suffering of the people, the Congress took up the Telangana issue with an eye on the next elections. It is in a match fixing with TRS and YSRC to gain seats in both regions,” he said.
“No government in the country will take up such a serious issue before the elections. Congress has used the Telangana issue in the last three elections to attract voters,” the TD chief said. “Why has the UPA not held an all-party meeting on the issue,” he wondered.
He predicted that the Congress would lose both in the state and at the Centre in the forthcoming elections.?“The Union ministers are acting according to Sonia Gandhi’s instructions, putting the future of the state at stake,” Naidu said.
“While the people are facing chaotic conditions over bifurcation, the Centre has cast all traditions and conventions of democracy aside and is blindly following the instruction of Sonia, who has only 14 years of political experience,” he said.
Naidu said that the TD had won a majority of the seats during the first two phases of the panchayat elections but the Congress had raised the T-issue just before third phase and made gains.
