Ten-year-old karate kid turns martial arts master
Kozhikode: Ten-year-old Abhishek Lal seldom gets bullied, for he’s no ordinary kid. He’s one of the youngest in the state to have earned a black belt in karate.
Abhishek, hailing from Cheliya village near Koyilandy, is a class five student of K.K. Kidavu Memorial UP School. He now trains others under the guidance Renshi Dileep Kumar.
Abhishek’s father, a toddy tapper and also a karate trainer who’s been in the circuit for the last 20 years, was the boy’s first coach.
He was then sent to Renshi Dileep Kumar at Kaju Kado Karate Martial Arts Academy. “Abhishek, right from the tender age of two, has seen me training my students. When I realized his taste in karate, I took to training him in all seriousness”, said Lalu C.M., Abhishek’s father.
At the age of three, Abhishek used to practise four times a week. “My son took up everything in all seriousness without even missing a day’s practice. Now he has become my ally and will train my students in my absence”, he added.
