List of holidays for 2014 not out yet
Hyderabad: There has been an inordinate delay in announcing the list of general/optional holidays for 2014 by the state government.
Various government departments and private organisations have been eagerly awaiting the list of holidays for over a month now.
These organisations want the list of holidays to be announced immediately since the delay has been affecting their plans to print the New Year diaries on time.
Normally, the state government releases the list of holidays by October every year. But in the last two years the list has been announced in the last week of November.
However, this year, the list is yet to be announced with only three days left for November to end.
The General Administration Department (GAD) issues Government Orders (GOs) informing the list of holidays every year.
When contacted, N. V. Ramana Reddy, special secretary (protocol), GAD, said that it would take a week to announce the list of holidays for 2014.
“The file is with the Chief Minister’s Office now. Once we get approval, we will announce the list. It may take a week,” Reddy said.
The delay in announcement of list of holidays affects the board exams. Though Inter Board has announced the schedule, the SSC Board has been awaiting the list of holidays to announce the board's exam schedule to ensure that the exams do not clash with holidays.
