Chakravarthy dream run on ?

Hyderabad: The giant killing act of Andhra Pradesh youngster Y.V.K. Chakravarthy continued on Day Two of the Hyderabad International Grandmasters chess tournament here at Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy indoor stadium here.

In the second round on Tuesday, Chakravarthy defeated International Master Vahe Baghdasaryan of Armenia to register his second big scalp in the championship. Meanwhile, IM P. Karthikeyan held top seed Russian GM Ivan Popov to a draw.

However, third seed Vidit Santosh Gujarathi and fourth seed M.R. Lalith Babu moved into third round with a clean slate as they overcame Malaysian IM Hafizulhelmi Mas and WGM Soumya Swaminathan, respectively.

Hyderabad: Srinivas and Syed Farhan shone with the bat while Abrar and Kamal picked up five-fors in the two-day cricket league here on Tuesday. Srinivas stroked 107 for Syndicate Bank, who made 226 after batting first against Budding Stars on the opening day of their game. Kamal picked up 5 for 26 for Budding Stars, who made 88 for 1 by the close of play. In another match, Farhan Smashed 142 as Pasha Beedi piled on a masive 425 after taking first strike against Oxford Blues.

S.K. Mujtaba assisted Farhan with an fine 62. For the bowling side, Bharat Raj scalped 4 for 102. Meanwhile, Abrar (6 for 44) helped SBI (278) defeat Crown CC by 108 runs. In the Brother John of God under-16 knockout tourna ment, M. Pratyush scored an unbeaten 147 in vain as St Joseph's (230 for 4) lost to Karimnagar by five wickets.

In another match, Vaishnav Reddy hit an unbeaten 101 as St Andrews High School (217 for 5) defeated Sri Chaitanya Techno School by 33 runs.
