Rahane upbeat ahead of SA tour
MUMBAI: Following Sachin Tendulkar's retirement, a spot in the Indian Test team has opened up and fellow Mumbai batsman Ajinkya Rahane is one of the many contenders. The talented youngster -set to play a larger role in the Test team in the times to come -said he is aware of the opportunity in the side but does not want to take undue pressure.
The 25-year-old batsman said he has prepared well for the South Africa tour. “I have been practising in the last 9-10 days with short-ball stuff like rubber ball and plastic balls with Pravin Amre. I'm sure that it will help me in those conditions.“
Rahane said that apart from Amre's inputs, his own experience too will come in handy . “I have been to South Africa with India 'A' and played two unofficial Test matches there. I played one crucial knock as well. I am really confident that whenever I get my opportunity there, I would do well,“ he added.
