Enforcement Directorate summons to BSY on asset details?

Irked by reports in the media that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) issued summons.

Bangalore: Irked by reports in the media that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) issued summons to former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa last week, the leader’s kin have asked advocates to verify the veracity of such reports.

Though the reports quoted officers of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Yeddyurappa’s daughter, Umadevi, told Deccan Chronicle “the ED has not issued summons to us. We instructed our lawyers to enquire about the summons, and they confirmed that no such summons were issued, or details of property sought by the officials.”

The sources said under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, authorities of ED have asked the former CM and members of his family to furnish details of properties and the original documents, and bank transactions.

In case they chance upon evidence that these properties were acquired through illegal sources of income, the authorities could attach such properties of the former Chief Minister.

Besides, officials of ED could ask their counterparts in CBI for a copy of the chargesheet and verify whether Yeddyurappa and his kin acquired property through illegal income.
