Sridhar under Telangana?pressure

Legislative affairs minister asked not to sign Prorogue file.

Hyderabad: The ball is now in legislative affairs minister D. Sridhar Babu’s court. The Chief Minister’s office has sent the Assembly prorogue file to the legislative affairs minister for his signature.

According to procedure, after the legislative minister signs the file and returns it to the Chief Minister’s office, the file will be sent to the Governor.

But Telangana leaders have been pressurising Sridhar Babu, who belongs to Telangana, not to sign the prorogue file.

Talking to the media on Monday, Sridhar Babu said his office had informed him that the file had reached his office, but he had not seen it.

The minister said the Assembly is required to meet on or before December 20. Currently, there are no emergency ordinances to be issued by the government, but pe-ople are concerned about the Assembly prorogue.

The minister said the Telangana leaders, including ministers, will meet the Governor and discuss the issue.

Meanwhile, PCC president and minister Botsa Satyanarayana in an informal chat with the media on Monday said that the prorogue is not an issue, as it makes no difference if the Assembly is prorogued or not.

Looks like the stage is set for Chief Minister vs legislative affairs minister confrontation. If the legislative affairs minister does not send the signed file to the Chief Minister, the latter may pressurise him to do so.

The Telangana ministers and Congress leaders are pressurising Sridhar Babu not to sign the file. It is quite likely that the minister may take a final decision after meeting the Governor, sources said.
