3 killed, 8 injured in serial accident
Bangalore: Three youths were killed and eight others injured seriously after a speeding car jumped over a median and hit a mini goods auto and an SUV on SumanÂaÂhalli flyover on NagaÂrÂbavi Outer Ring Road aroÂund 4.15 pm on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as BhavyaÂshÂree, 23, a resident of KenÂgeri, Prasad, 21, a B.Com graduate and a resident of Jalahalli, and Naveen, 23, a resident of Jalahalli who was working at a mall.
The police said that the trio, along with two other friends – Bharat Kumar, 22, and Sambashiva, 21 – had gone to a friend’s wedding in Mysore and were returning to the city in the evening.
On the flyover, Bharat, who was driving the Wagon-R car in a rash and dangerous manner, lost control of the vehicle and hit the road median. The car rolled twice and hit a Tata Ace luggage auto and a Toyota Innova coming from the opposite direction.
Bhavyasree and Prasad died on the spot, while three others in the car were severely injured. Naveen died at a private hospital around 8.30 pm. Except Naveen, all others were searching for jobs, the police said.
“The auto driver, Shivaraju, 40, sustained multiple fractures. The five occupants of the SUV – Rama Rao, 80, his wife, Saraswathamma, 70, their son Suresh, his wife Vani, and the driver Somasundar – also sustained injuries. ShivarÂaju’s condition is critical,” the police said.
All the three vehicles were badly damaged in the accident. The traffic on the busy ring road was thrown out of gear for an hour.
