Kochi: Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar on Sunday said the Clinical Establishment Bill which sought to set quality norms, infrastructure and other parameters including service conditions for Government and private hospitals and clinics would be introduced in the coming Assembly session.

The Minister said this while inaugurating the fourth annual conference of the Confederation of Private Health Care Associations at Lisie Hospital here, on Sunday. Currently, private hospitals and clinics are under the purview of the Shops and Establishment Act.

The bill, which would award a prison term of three years to people responsible for causing damage to a hospital would become an act in two months. The issue of recovering the compensation for the damage done would also come under the act, he said.

The Minister added that both Government and private hospitals would continue to contribute to the health sector and the Government would always promote both the sectors.
