SBI manager, wife killed in road accident
Chennai: Four persons, including a bank manager and his wife from Chennai, travelling in a car towards the city, were killed after their vehicle was hit by an SUV which lost control and jumped over a median on GST road from the opposite direction at Athimanam in Padalam police station limits near Chengalpet on Sunday afternoon.
Shanmugha KumarÂaswÂaÂmy, 59, assistant manager with SBI, Mount road branch, and resident of Lakshmi nagar, ValasÂaraÂvaÂkkam, was returning home from Puducherry along with his wife Jayalakshmi, 58, and their relative Vijaya, 58, in a hired car driven by Dharanivel, 38, a native of Vellore, when the accident took place.
Five passengers of the SUV, whose driver lost control of the vehicle and collided into the car from Puducherry, suffered injuries.
Naresh, 28, of Vandavasi, was driving the SUV in which he was transporting four passengers, Karthik of Mayiladuthurai, Prabakaran from Tiruchy, Sekar from Washermanpet and Arun from Chennai.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the Chengalpet GH mortuary, while the injured were admitted to the same hospital for treatment. The mishap resulted in a traffic snarl on GST road for nearly an hour.
