Carlsen revels in victory, a day after

Chennai: “It feels good,“ said Magnus Carlsen, the new world chess champion when asked about how he felt a day after winning his first world title. The 23-year-old Norwegian superstar looked fresh and bright in his white full-sleeves shirt and black trousers on Saturday. Changing to bowling shoes in the second floor of Ramee Mall, which is attached to Hyatt Regency, the venue of the world championship, Carlsen sported a big smile, and even acknowledged the congratulations offered by onlookers.

But then, his security Bjorn Gunnar Nesse and his chef Magnus Forssell made sure that the world no. 1 was not disturbed.
“We want him to enjoy his free day. He wants to relax today after a hectic tournament,“ said Nesse.

 

While Team Carlsen stayed put at Hyatt, most of the members in Team Anand including Anand and his wife Aruna quietly left the venue on Saturday except for Anand's logistics manager Eric van Reem and close friend Hans-Walter Schmitt.

“The challenger for 2014 match will emerge from the Candidates tourna ment in March.
