Thousands of youth turn up for AAP concert, pledge support

Noted artists like Vishal Dadlani, Sunita Rao, Ranveer Shourey present at the event.

New Delhi: Expressing their support to the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party, thousands of youth on Saturday pledged to come out and vote for a change in the upcoming Delhi elections.

The youth gathered at a music concert and rally organised by AAP to witness the performance by noted actors and artists like music director Vishal Dadlani, singer Sunita Rao, Jasleen Royale, Kavita Seth, Aditi Singh Sharma, Ranveer Shourey, Chang, members of the band Agni-Moha and Koko, Rabbi Shergill, Soni ji, Manoj Sehrawat and Shruti Pathak at "Jeet ki Goonj"- a music concert.

The party witnessed healthy turnout at Jantar Mantar.

Grand Nephew of Bhagat Singh also attended the rally and extended his support to the party.

Apart from Kejriwal, Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan, Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia also attended the rally. They explained the elements of change they propose for Delhi and elements of the AAP manifesto.

Jasleen Royale, Kavita Seth, Aditi Singh Sharma, Shilpa Rao, Ranveer Shourey, Chang, members of the band Agni - Moha and Koko, Vishal Dadlani, Rabbi Shergill, Soni ji, Manoj Sehrawat and Shruti Pathak from Mumbai film industry performed in the event.

Vishal Dadlani termed the rally as unqiue, as "no artist has asked for or received any fee for coming to Delhi."

Shorey said though he was a Mumbaikar, but he "felt the need to come to Delhi for this rally to participate and contribute to the mood that AAP has created for the spirit of change which must reach all parts of India and not only Delhi."

Meanwhile, the party said one of its volunteer allegedly committed suicide.

"We are deeply saddened to hear that Arvind Malik, our active volunteer from Zaffrabad has committed suicide.

"We understand that he took the extreme step due to some family problem. We are very saddened that he chose this extreme step that has crushed all of us who cared deeply for him," an AAP statement said.

Malik shot himself Saturday morning with a weapon belonging to a family member. He was rushed to GTB Hospital but he could not be saved, the statement said, adding 'we stand with his family in this tragic hour and pray that his troubled soul finds peace.'
