School let three year old nursery student to sit alone in a vacant room for 3 days.
Hyderabad: A three year old nursery student was made to sit alone in a vacant room for three consecutives days during school hours (9 am to 1 pm) by the administration of Little Chums School, Saroornagar.
A. Jasvanth, son of A. Jagan Mohan Raj and A. Preethi had joined Little Chums School, Venkateshwara Colony Saroornagar, last December.
Preethi, said, “We were unhappy with the school and wanted to shift our child to another institution and the new school asked for the quarterly report for admission.
“When we approached the administration of Little Chums they initially refused to give us the quarterly report. However, after several requests director K. Kamala agreed to give the document, but asked us to pay the third term fees of Rs 5,000. Till then we had already paid Rs10,000 towards first and second term fees. We managed to pay the amount, but while taking the report, my mother-in-law and the director exchanged harsh words over the school’s practices. “On November 18, Kamala called me up and started shouting at me about my mother-in-law’s behaviour.”
Parents fail to file complaint
Hyderabad: The husband of the director of Little Chums School, Saroornagar, who is an excise department officer at Mahbubnagar, called and apologised for his wife’s behaviour.
Jagan Mohan Raj, the father A. Jasvanth, who was made to sit alone in a vacant room for three consecutives days during school hours said, “On November 19, my son informed us that the director had been making him sit alone in an empty room for two days. The teacher was not attending to him, he was not being given classwork or allowed to meet his classmates; from 9 am to 1 pm he fearfully sat alone in the room.
“On November 23, when we visited the school, the board read ‘Fruit Day’ and all the children were dressed for the occasion. However, my child was not informed. When we checked his diary, we saw that since November 19, no homework, teacher’s remarks or school related information had been written. My son was thrown in the corner and was not allowed to study as well, despite us paying the fee.
“After several calls the director came to the school but refused to explain her treatment towards my son.”
While the parents of the child informed Saroornagar police officials who questioned the director, they did not file a complaint.
Meanwhile, Deputy District Education Officer K. Rohini visited the school and found that it was not recognised. “We have issued notices against the school,” added the education officer.
When Deccan Chronicle tried calling the school director, her phone was found to be switched off.
