Priyanshi Mehta, Accessories designer

As an accessory designer, I have always aspired to create designs and embellishments like none other. My label Rossoyuki was created to be unique and luxurious. My work has been inspired by strong personalities in the fashion industry like Madeleine Cheruit, Rei Kawakubo, Stella McCartney, Elsa Schiaparelli and Chan Luu. I am also influenced by Indian greats like Abraham and Thakore, Rohit Bal, Sabyasachi and Naeem Khan. As couturiers, their command over the language of detailing and fit is impeccable and I’ve truly learnt a lot from them.

If I was asked to name the one iconic design I wish I had created, it would definitely be the conical bra created for Madonna by Jean Paul Gaultier. My other “design wish” would have been to have lived in the Halston age — all of his works are so iconic!

Staying in tune with the latest trends and fashions is important for me and I really like to bring out a surprise with every new collection. All my creations have signature beadwork that is incorporated into the embellishment. Globally, the spring/summer 2014 trend should see lots of metallic colours, snake prints, plastic used in jewellery. To me, the world is a canvas and design the muse.
