High drama as DMK stages walk-out

DMK walks out of Chennai corporation Council protesting against the failure of the civic body.
Chennai: High drama prevailed at the Ripon Buildings on Friday with the DMK staging a customary walk-out from the Chennai corporation Council, alleging that the Opposition members were being denied the chance to speak about public issues.
This time around, the plot was less political and had more spice, involving scribes and the no-nonsense corporation commissioner Vikram Kapur.
It all started when the DMK floor leader Subash Chandra Bose walked into the council hall with newspaper clippings, saying that the headlines in the press frequently and stridently proclaimed the failure of the civic body to provide a clean and green Chennai.
Hitting back, Mayor Saidai S. Duraisamy said that most of the reports were baseless. When there was a factual report, the Corporation had always swung into action and addressed the problem.
