Visakhapatnam: A 32-year-old software professional from Hyderabad was on Saturday arrested for allegedly circulating photographs of his ex-girlfriend on the Internet, which prompted her to attempt suicide, police said.

The accused B. Pradeep Kumar Reddy, previously employed at a software firm at Madhapur in the state capital, allegedly sent some objectionable photographs of the victim on the personal e-mails of her fiancee and of her relatives.

"Reddy, a married man, posed himself as a bachelor and an HR professional working with a reputed software company and developed friendship with the girl around four years back," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Mohammad Khan told reporters here.

Reddy and the victim, a resident of Gajuwaka area in city, developed a relationship which she broke off recently after coming to know that he was already married.

Police said Reddy would seek sexual favours from the girl promising to marry her. Even though the girl walked out on him, Reddy wanted to continue the affair and even forced her to elope with him, police said. However, the girl refused Reddy's proposal and decided to marry another man.

"When the girl discontinued her relationship with him, Reddy started making threatening calls to her and her family members. He forwarded her objectionable photos, along with abusive comments, to the e-mails of her fiancee and her relatives," Khan said. This resulted into her fiancee cancelling the marriage, which prompted the girl to attempt suicide recently, he said.

After coming to know that objectionable photos of his daughter have found the way on the Internet, her father lodged a complaint at Gajuwaka police station on October 28 against Reddy.

Police traced Reddy in Hyderabad and booked him under sections 417 (punishment for cheating) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of IPC besides section 66 (A) of IT Act 2000.

Police also seized a blackberry mobile phone, a laptop and a router from Reddy. The accused was produced before the court of the 3rd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate here, which remanded him in judicial custody.

TN woman helped in husband's murder, paid killers Rs 2 lakh

Chennai: Twenty seven-year-old Vidya had not just hired mercenaries with the help of her paramour to kill her husband, but she also helped in executing her husband Rajkumar in his house in Alapakkam by tightly holding his legs while a gang member slashed his throat on Wednesday night after postponing the murder plan at least twice earlier.

The deal – which she managed to strike with the gang headed by Durai Raj through her paramour Manikandan – was worth Rs 2 lakh. After killing Rajkumar, whom Vidya had married seven years back after a love affair, she removed all the gold ornaments from his body and handed them over to the gang members so that the killing will look like one committed for gain. Also, she did not have liquid cash to settle the deal.

Three weeks back, the gang was all set to kill Rajkumar. “But at that time, he had taken a vow to go on a pilgrimage to Sabarimala. So, we decided to postpone it. He usually does not consume alcohol during that time. If he was drunk, it will be easy for us to kill him,” one of the gang members told the police. Vidya also said she was fed up with her abusive drunkard husband.

The gang had then wanted to bump him off on Wednesday late evening when Rajkumar was returning from work on his bike. “On that day, around 5 pm, Vidya met us and gave an advance of Rs 5,000. She had also given us his photo. We wanted to finish him on his way back as she had told us the route he usually takes to reach home. But, on Wednesday, we could not execute our plan because Rajkumar was riding very fast on his bike,” another gang member disclosed.

The gang had called up Vidya around 10 pm, but she suggested that they could came later in the night as the neighbours were not asleep. “We called her again around 1 am when she agreed. She had kept the door open so that we could enter without making a noise,” he added.

However, the police caught the gang during a vehicle check, while they were travelling back the same night, getting suspicious of their blood-stained shirts.
