'Thangameengal' in International Film Festival of India

'Thangameengal', which is the only Tamil film to be screened in the Indian Panorama section.

'Thangameengal', which is the only Tamil film to be screened in the Indian Panorama section of the International Film Festival of India, has done well with Tamil audiences and garnered critical acclaim across the globe. Ram, the director of the film, is happy about the recognition the film has garnered. “Every artist who has acted in this film is emotionally bonded with 'Thangameengal'. But as a Tamilian, I am also disappointed that mine is the only Tamil film which will be screened there. I wish for more films from this state to reach international audiences.”

Ram is also busy shooting for his next film, 'Tharamani'. “I believe that people here will appreciate good films, and so I am happy to experiment with all genres,” he says. Why didn’t he take up commercial films? “I never claimed that all my flicks are of the art film type. This is also a mainstream feature film that has been taken in my own way.”
