Changing characteristics of workforce and how does it impact TCS and academia will be the main focus of 'Sangam'.

Hyderabad: Senior executives of IT major TCS on Friday began their interaction with academicians from various streams as part of their annual meeting.

'Sangam' is a two-day gathering organised by India's largest IT firm as part of their collaboration with the academic world. Heads of TCS departments and academicians drawn from different streams deliberate on a chosen theme and share ideas.

According to Ajoyendra Mukherjee, Executive Vice- President and Global Head-HR, this time the event is focusing on the impact of changing profile of workforce. The theme of 'Sangam 2013' is "Staying relevant – riding the digital wave".

"The characteristics of workforce are changing and how does that impact TCS and academia, this is what we are going to deliberate," Mukherjee said on sidelines of the event.

"After two days of deliberations some action points will come out from both TCS and academia side," he said. He said as many as 70 academicians, including heads of various educational institutions in the city, and eminent professors are taking part in 'Sangam'.

The event is a platform for TCS to share updates and latest developments related to business processes, technology and R&D with academic leaders, Mukherjee added. Suggestions and ideas exchanged at the meet are used as inputs for review of academic curriculum, collaborations and forging R&D alliances, he added.
