Anupam took a walk down memory lane and shared the stories of his struggles in the film world.

Bollywood veteran Anupam Kher took a walk down memory lane and shared the stories of his struggles in the film world till he won critical acclaim with his stupendous performance in 'Saaransh' in 1984.

"There should be an urge for brilliance in everybody to fulfil his/her dream in life," Kher, who was here today in connection with the release of the Hindi version of his book 'The Best Thing About You is You', told the gathering.

The Hindi version of the book which asks the readers to work hard and convert failures to success instead of being bogged down by failures, is entitled 'Aaap Khud Hi Best Hain'.

Kher, who debuted in Bollywood in the 1980s, recounted the encouragement given to him by his grandfather who told him that a person who is soaked in the rain need not fear downpours.

He shared yet another anecdote from his boyhood days in Shimla when his father gave him a treat at a luxury hotel despite his failure in a school examination.

"My father said never be afraid of failure but try hard to convert it into success."

It was released by Anand Kumar, noted mathematician and founder of Super30 an institution which hones talent of economically deprived students to qualify in the IITs at the on-going book fair at the Gandhi Maidan in the city.

Kher hailed Kumar's triumph in his mission after a long struggle due to financial hardship. Kumar had to give up the chance to go to Cambridge due to lack of funds, which steeled his resolve to work for the poor but meritorious students.
