Moving on to bigger things in life

Pallavi is making her debut in M'town with 'Silence' opposite Mammootty

There is a long list of actors who have made that smooth transition from the small screen to the big screen, but not many have had lady luck clasping their hand. Pallavi, who is making her debut in Mollywood through V.K. Prakash starrer Silence, is cast opposite stars like Mammootty and Anoop Menon. She has also signed for Subhash Ghai’s film Kaanchi opposite Mithun Chakraborthy and her appearance in the soap Madhubala has brought her instant recognition.

Acknowledging the luck factor, Pallavi says, “I got a lot of appreciation for Madhubala and now I am lucky to have been chosen in Silence! There are so many established Malayali actors, but V.K. Prakash chose to place his confidence in me.” Pallavi did have her share of butterflies in the stomach since she had to act alongside Mammootty. She candidly confesses, “Initially, I was uncomfortable and nervous, especially on the first day. I kept wondering if my performance was up to the mark and the kind of persona Mammootty has. My heart was constantly going dhak dhak. But I am a person who puts in more than 100 per cent effort and by the third day, Mammootty told me that I was very hard-working and that I would pick up fast. Those words felt magical.”

Though a Malayali whose hometown is Palakkad, Pallavi has spent the large part of her life so far in Mumbai. She reveals, “I know Malayalam, but I have an accent problem. So I used to note down the dialogues, go home, rehearse them and then go back the next day for the shoot!”

Pallavi was happy that she got to meet her muttashi often. She now has her fingers crossed hoping for Silence’s success!
