Kareena, the beautiful
Kareena Kapoor just landed at the Bengaluru International Airport. The pretty actress is accompanied by her co-star Imran Khan and director Punit Malhotra. Bengaluru evokes nostalgic memories for Bebo, as she is fondly called. After all her latest flick, 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein', was shot here. She can’t stop gushing about our city. “We began our shoot for the movie, which lasted for 10-15 days, here and now we are ending our movie promotions in this city. Bengaluru has an international vibe to it. One of the most well-developed cities in India. The airport is so well-planned and I love the people here,” she says.
Kareena is emotional. She chose this film over the successful Ram Leela and has no regrets. “That is how I have always been. My emotions influence my decisions. I also wanted to do a fun light -hearted flick, after doing serious films like 'Heroine' and 'Satyagraha'. It was not about choosing one film over the other, it was more about wanting to take up a light-hearted role. I never worry about the consequences of my choices. This is a romantic genre and you just need to head to the theatre with a packet of popcorn in your hand,” she adds.
She is so convinced about 'GTPM' that she is all over TV channels promoting the film on 'Bigg Boss' and 'Nach Baliye' amongsts others. Does she watch desi soaps and shows? “My mother loves watching these shows. So when I visit her place, I have no choice but to watch the shows with her. I had great fun with Kapil, he is very talented and has become a household name. TV has become such popular medium and these stars deserve all the success they get. In fact, they should be more successful than us movie actors,” she adds.
Kareena shares a fabulous equation with Salman Khan and the rapport was more than visibile on 'Bigg Boss'. “I love Salman and he has known me since I was a kid. I’m very comfortable with him and so it was a fun episode to shoot,” she reveals.
Kareena also visited the 'Nach Baliye' sets where her hubby Saif was present. Did they head to the shoot together? “No, we don’t believe in co-ordinating our entries together. Saif and I believe in doing our own thing and then getting together as a couple and doing fun stuff. We believe in giving each other space and that is important in a relationship between two artistes,” she adds.
Saif has family in Bengaluru and Kareena spent time with them when she was shooting here. “But not when I come for my promotions, otherwise we do meet up,” she says.
Once 'GTPM' releases, Kareena will start shooting for 'Shuddhi'. Does she feel pressurised by the hype surrounding her pairing with Hrithik? “The movie will take a while to be made. We are just going to start shooting next month, so let’s hope for the best,” she adds.
Would she describe herself as content? “Yes, I don’t have to prove a point to anybody and want to continue acting till I’m 60.” Carry on, Kareena.
