Rajiv, not NDA gave IT sector the boost: Congress
Bengaluru: Congress leaders in the state lashed out at BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for attributing the IT boom in Bengaluru to NDA's IT policy and Atal Behari Vajpayee's vision, in his Sunday rally speech.
Both KPCC chief Dr G. Parameshwar and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who, on Tuesday shared the dais at Freedom Park on the occasion of late Indira Gandhi's 96th birth anniversary celebrations, dubbed Modi's claims as a bundle of lies. The duo suggested that Modi would do well with a lesson or two in history instead of distorting history.
Siddaramaiah said, "Vajpayee had called Indira Gandhi Goddess Durga. In turn, Modi chose to call the Nehru family power-hungry. BJP and RSS are known to tell lies and what more can we expect from Modi?
If today, there is mobile and IT revolution in the country the credit goes to Rajiv Gandhi. Former chief minister S.M. Krishna was responsible for the IT boom in Bengaluru. Modi is trying to mislead people of Karnataka, but people are clever and Modi cannot change BJP's fortunes."
"IT revolution happened when Veerappa Moily was industries minister and S.M. Krishna was the chief minister. Now, how can Modi give credit to NDA? It is a shame BJP tried to create hype about Modi rally as there was hardly one lakh turnout and 80,000 chairs at the venue.
Congress party is not new to organising rallies and we saw through the false claims made by the BJP. Modi failed on all counts as he totally avoided commenting on corruption. This was because the BJP government in the State was the most corrupt.
The BJP-led BBMP has failed to clear the garbage in the city. Why did Modi not speak about unemployment, development, agricultural production or foreign policy? He only attempted to create a communal divide," said Dr Parameshwar.
Congress party workers in Karnataka have little time to relax and bask in the Assembly election victory as it is time to fight people pursuing Godse's philosophy and ensure that Gandhian philosophy triumphs in the Lok Sabha polls - said AICC general secretary B.K. Hariprasad, while addressing a rally in the city. "Modi's circus can end only when we all strengthen the hands of AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and vote for Congress," added Hariprasad.
Siddaramaiah warned of a ‘bloodbath’ if Modi was voted to power. He also urged party workers to ‘defeat the BJP and save India'. "If Modi wins, India can never aspire for peace,” the CM warned.
