No unanimity on Rayala-T
Anantapur: Rayala-Telangana state proposal has been creating differences among the leaders of four districts of the Rayalaseema region including Nellore district.
Senior Congress leader and Tadipatri MLA J.C. Diwakar Reddy had proposed for Rayala-T seeking merger of Anantapur and Kurnool districts into Telangana.
Union minister of state for railways Kotla Jaya Suryaprakash Reddy, who hails from Kurnool district, was also lobbying at Delhi on similar demand.
Though many Congress leaders had no clarity on the proposal, Diwakar Reddy and Anantapur DCC president K. Madhusudhan Guptha have started campaign to get support for the demand.
While justifying over the demand and splitting of Rayalaseema region, Diwakar Reddy has criticising leaders of Kadapa and Chittoor for their political domination since two decades.
“The leaders of Telangana Congress and TRS were vexed with the leaders and their followers from two particular districts and not willing to entertain further in Rayala-Telangana proposal,” Diwakar Reddy said during a recent meeting at Anantapur.
Leaders from Anantapur and Kurnool were coordinating in this regard to mount pressure on the Centre towards carving out Rayala-Telangana state with 12 districts.
Kotla Jayasuryaprakash Reddy and other leaders have already represented the high command and other ministers on similar demand to form Rayala-T state if state division is inevitable.
As speculation rife over Telangana agitation seeking power and Telangana leaders were not happy with leadership of Chittoor and Kadapa.
It may be recalled Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu had acted as chief minister for nine consecutive years and similarly in opposition.
Slain Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy of Kadapa district ruled the state as chief minister for five years period and also voted to power for second time.
Presently, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy of Chittoor district was also leading the agitation. Leaders from Anantapur and Kurnool were getting support from non-political JACs, those played keyrole in the agitation turning towards Rayala-T agitation.
The proposal was creating confusion among the employees of various JACs and suspecting second phase of indefinite strike in the two districts. Former union minister and Rajampeta MP K. Saiprathap of Kadapa district was strongly opposing the Rayala-T proposal.
The senior Congress leader from Kadapa district ruled out possibilities of new proposal which would further divide historic Rayalaseema.
In addition, YSR Congress party that had strong base in Kadapa and also in Chittore districts in Rayalaseema region was opposing Diwakar Reddy’s proposal for splitting Rayalaseema districts. “It is a proposal to dilute YSR Congress party impact in the state”, central committee member Y.Visweswar Reddy observed.
