Jaipur: BJP President Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said the Congress-led UPA government has failed on all fronts - from poor economic situation and worsening internal security to bitter diplomatic relations with neighbouring countries.
The BJP chief said his party would win in four of the five states where Assembly elections are underway as "people of this nation think and find that only BJP can assure "sushashan" (good governance)".
"The country needs a change right now," Singh said and appealed to the people to vote in favour of the party to oust the Congress from power in states and at the Centre.
Inflation is the biggest crisis the people have been facing during the Congress rule, and despite all efforts it was not being controlled by the UPA government, Singh told a press conference after releasing party's "Suraj Sankalp Patra" (poll manifesto) for the December 1 Rajasthan Assembly polls.
Despite the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister being economic legends, they could not control the fiscal deficits and country's current account deficits were rising and have caused loss of rupee's value against US dollar, Singh said.
On the internal and external securities, all kinds of terror activities like Naxalism, terrorism, and communal riots were rampant, he said, adding that the UPA government has no "comprehensive action plan" to curb these incidents. It appeared that the UPA government has no "diplomatic skills" to deal with neighbouring countries, Pakistan and China, he said, adding the foreign relations were really bitter than ever.
Claiming that the party would make a hat-trick in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, he said that the survey agencies have shown BJP's performances in these states.
The Congress is facing a crisis of public faith and confidence because there is a difference between its "words and deeds", and it has adopted Britisher's policy of "divide and rule" and created division in the society on the basis of caste, creed and religion, the BJP president said.
On the snooping controversy, Singh said, "The woman's father has already given a letter, and he has appealed to the Human Rights Commission to save their family from such controversy and blame game, what is left now to comment on."
On the communal riots in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district and the alleged involvement of some party MLAs, he said, "There has been no involvement or role of BJP workers and MLAs in such communal incidents."
Had the SP government in Uttar Pradesh acted tactically and timely, the violence in Muzaffarngar could have been avoided perfectly, Singh said. In just one-and-half years of the SP government, there were around 100 communal incidents in Uttar Pradesh, he said, adding "whether it was BSP, SP, or Congress, they all played vote bank politics."
