Women’s Day celebrated at Saikulwanth Hall

Anantapur: Eeswaramma Welfare Trust Chairperson Chetanraj has said Sri Satya Saibaba had voiced for the respectable position of women in the society.

Saibaba’s discourses were always stressed on prosperity of woman, who acts as mother, sister and daughter with sacrificing nature.

International Women’s Day was celebrated at Saikulwanth Hall in Prasanthinilayam in the district as part of 88th birth anniversary celebrations of Sri Satya Saibaba on Tuesday.

The programme commenced with Rudram chanting by the students from Anantapur campus followed by Brass Band by girls. A panel discussion on “Bhagawan's Teachings with reference to the Role of Woman” was held on the occasion.

Chetanaraj said the trust was taking various service activities at many parts including in medical field. “At least 55,000 women and 40,000 girl students benefited through medical aid since eight years,” she stated.

As part of the service initiatives by the Trust, over 500 selected children from Puttaparthi and surrounding villages were honoured with special gifts along with 50 women who were given away special keys related to sanitation kits.

About 11 persons represented from various categories including Dr. Girija Rajaram scientist and currently engaged in research in space science at IIT, Mumbai, Dr. Neelam Desai, senior consultant and cardiac surgeon at SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, Dorris Hampton, manager and consutant in community development proramme in the US, Dr. K.P. Sai Leela, alumnus and retired faculty in English from the Anantapur campus of SSSIHL, Dr Lakshmi, gynecologist and Associate Professor at Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad, participated.

Neena Bordoloi, Alumnus of Anantapur Campus currently teaching English at the primary division of SSSHS School, Priya Sridhar, Banker by profession and a singer, U Suma,
Alumnus and Asst Professor, Dept of Commerce, Anantapur Campus of SSSIHL, Dr Su Evans, Retired Professor in Educational Psychology, Sheila Krishnan, Lawyer with HC of Karnataka and Madhuri Naganand, Trustee of Easwaramma Women's Welfare Trust, participated on the occasion.
