Chennai: Actress Shruti HaaÂsan, daughter of noted actor Kamal HaasÂan, was attacked by a stalker who rang the doorbell and tried to push his way into her Mumbai apartment after grabbing her by her throat when she answered Tuesday morning.
While the 27- year- old actress was momentarily shocked, she managed to break free and slam the door in the man’s face, who fled before she could raise an alarm.
It is believed the man was an obsessed fan. Although the incident took place around 9.30 am, a shaken Shruti did not file a complaint with the Mumbai police till evening.
The Balupu actress later reportedly left for Hyderabad. While Shruti herself could not be reached, her spokesperson said she had opened the door thinking her maid had come to clean the apartment.
“But to her shock she found a strange man outside and when he tried to push his way in, Shruti banged the door in his face. She is absolutely fine now and there’s nothing to worry,” he added, explaining that she did not want to make an issue of it at first but later decided to lodge a police complaint.
