Here's to that trophy Wi-Fi!
Wi-fi hotspots are considered to be a blessing and with many specific places around Bengaluru providing free and unrestricted access; it has bailed Bengalureans out of a variety of tight situations.
“While I was relaxing with my friends at Mocha, I received a SMS from my boss asking me to send the recruitment details of a person. Since it was my day off, I was not carrying a laptop or an Internet dongle with me. The wi-fi at Mocha helped me send those details via my phone," says Moumita Panday, a professional recruiter.
Cunningham Road has been a major wi-fi hotspot and most of the restaurants offer free wi-fi for a limited period of time.
“While I was hanging out at Cunningham Road, I received a call asking me to immediately send an e-mail with the details of an event. I panicked, but then I remembered that Cunningham Road is a wi-fi hotspot so, I went to Hatworks Boulevard. They took my phone number and provided me a password for the Internet access with a limit of 30 minutes of usage. That was more than enough for me to send my mail," says Lalita Lakhsmi, co-owner of Atta Galatta.
Since the Internet has made many things go online, people have used these wi-fi hotspots for various purposes like banking transactions, online shopping and even booking movie tickets.
“It was late in the night and suddenly I remembered that I had to complete two tasks and their deadline was almost over. Luckily , the place had wi-fi and I used my phone to make an important payment through my bank's website. I also browsed through the catalogue of a gift shop in Koramangala and called the store to get a gift delivered to my house the next day for my mother's birthday," says Tausif Pasha, a small-scale businessman.
