With four Kannada films hitting screens last Friday, 'Ambara' starring Yogesh and 'Shylu' fame Bhama, is indeed the best among the worst!
Earlier the team claimed that 'Ambara' is a 'different' kind of film, and has all the elements of a blockbuster, but it has actually turned out to be a different kind of boring!
Yogesh, who shone after his critically-acclaimed performance in 'Sidlingu' alongside Sandalwood queen Ramya, alongwith acclaim for upcoming art film Matte Satyagraha', 'Ambara' is disappointing for Yash's fans, who have seen him in a similar avatar in his early days as an actor.
Apart from the performances by Yogesh, Bhama and two good songs, there is nothing much for the audience.
Director Sen Prakash, who comes from a teleserial background has mixed up the screenplay while attempting to do something unusual.
The film ends with a message saying that love is greater than 'Ambara' (heavenly sky).
Since there have been numerous films in almost all the languages that have the cliched glorification of love, this one does not really offer much!
With a weak story-line, 'Ambara' is about a college student who falls in love with a classmate but somehow finds it difficult to express it to her. The first phase of the film is the usual college scenes -about ragging, funny incidents in college life and 'love'. In order to win over the heart of Bhama, Yogi studies hard and finds a decent job.
The next phase is when the hero meets his nursery school mate, who is now a rich realtor, who ventures into the risky realty business and gets embroiled in the murder of an opposite gang realtor. While on the run, Bhama who is also in love with the hero who is unaware of it, faces a tough time as her marriage is forcibly arranged by her parents. Will love blossom in the end? That is for die hard fans of the actors to watch out for.
Otherwise, it is not recommended for a general audience.
