Colaco wants to inject consistency in East Bengal performance

Armando Colaco said he would look to bring in consistency in East Bengal performance.

Kolkata: Newly-appointed East Bengal coach Armando Colaco, who will take charge just days before their high voltage I-League derby against Mohun Bagan, today said he was not new to pressure situations and he would look to bring in consistency, something his former club Dempo was known for.

In his first official press interaction after arriving here last night, the five-time National League winning Dempo coach said, "I'm not just looking forward to the Sunday's (EB vs MB) match. But every match is important for me. I love to take challenges."

"It will be of little significance if we win against Mohun Bagan and lose our next away match. It's about bringing in consistency," Colaco asserted.

"I know the players, I always believe in their potential to win Trophy."

The former Dempo coach said Dempo was still his "baby" but now looking forward to bring the best from East Bengal.

"I groomed the side (Dempo) right from the beginning... it's like my family. But now after coming here, I would try my best for East Bengal."

Colaco, however, felt that the team was still missing mercurial playmaker Penn Orji who switched allegiance to Mohammedan Sporting.

"I feel we have to be flexible and play according to the situations."

Colaco today watched East Bengal's 4-1 win over George Telegraph in the local league at the club ground before taking over the head coach's role on November 21.

East Bengal will bid farewell to their Brazilian coach Marcos Falopa in their club tent and Colaco will attend the function tomorrow afternoon.
