Somireddy warns Diwakar Reddy
Nellore: Congress leader J.C. Diwakar Reddy’s utterances in favour of Rayala Telangana, if division is inevitable, drew sharp criticism from the TD.
Former minister and TD politburo member Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy advised the senior Congress leader to beware of the reaction of the people of Rayalaseema especially his Anantapur against his role in lobbying for Rayala Telangana.
He said that people of Rayalaseema were in the forefront during the Samaikyandhra agitation and they will not spare any leader if they campaign for merger of Kurnool and Anantapur with Telangana.
He ridiculed Diwakar Reddy for coming out with the proposal to merge Anantapur and Kurnool with Telangana while the demand in Telangana was state with 10 districts and Hyderabad city.
Chandramohan Reddy has alleged that Nellore, Chittoor and Kadapa will be destroyed if Rayala Telangana becomes a reality because they are dependent on Pothireddypadu head regulator located in Kurnool to address irrigation needs of 21.50 lakh acre.
He appealed to the people of Rayalaseema and legislators of the region not to fall prey for Diwakar Reddy’s game plan that is suicidal to everyone. When reminded about MIM backing for Rayala Telangana, he retorted stating that MIM has no business to middle with Rayalaseema.
The former minister came down heavily against YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for talking about amendment to Article 3. He maintained that there is no need to touch the Article 3 and the statement is an example for lack of knowledge on the subject.
Chandramohan Reddy also demanded the YSR Congress to disclose the details of closed door discussions he had with BJP national president Rajnath Singh. He accused Union minister Jaipal Reddy for his stand on Bhadrachalam issue even after claiming that he is an integrationist.
in the past. He called upon the Seemandhra region to oppose the proposal to merge Bhadrachalam in Telangana whenever the Bill is introduced in the Assembly. Chandramohan Reddy has not spared the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy too. Borrowing Lagadapati Rajagopal’s lingo, he said that the star batsman (CM) has come to play after 11 wickets are down.
“If he is really a star batsman let him take all his party MPs and MLAs to the President and make it clear that they will withdraw support to the Union government if consent is given to bifurcation of state,” the former minister challenged.
