Seemandhra mantris for Hyderabad as Union Territory
Hyderabad: Union Ministers from Seemandhra on Monday, pitched strongly for making Hyderabad a permanent joint capital for both the states or making it a Union Territory.
Barring Kishore Chandra Deo and Panabaka Laxmi who submitted separate reports to the Group of Ministers on Monday, the remaining six Seemandhra ministers presented their report, demanding that the state should remain united, and if that is not possible they should provide a special package for Seemandhra.
However, Seemandhra ministers declined to disclose the contents of their report and merely said that they asked for justice to Seemandhra and making Hyderabad a Union Territory.
While all the senior ministers including the Cabinet ministers M.M. Pallam Raju and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao preferred to maintain silence and stand behind their juniors and ministers of state, minister of state for finance J.D. Seelam briefed the media.
Demanding that Hyderabad be made a UT, Seelam said the contributions of coastal Andhra people for the development of Hyderabad cannot be ignored. They also told the GoM that there was largescale migration of Seemandhra people to the capital in the last 30 years and one-third of the city’s population is now comprised of people from Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra. “We are confident that the GoM will do justice to our demands,” Seelam said.
According to sources the Seemandhra ministers submitted a detailed memorandum seeking for a special package for their region.

Hyderabad: Union Tribal Affairs Minister Kishore Chandra Deo on Monday submitted a separate memorandum to the Group of Ministers demanding that Visakhapatnam be designated the Seemandhra capital rightway. If that was done, there would be no need to make Hyderabad the joint capital.
Deo also stressed the need to create a separate Rayalaseema state as the people of that region would not prefer to with Coastal Andhra. If it is not possible to make Rayalaseema a separate state, it should be merged with Telangana, he wrote.
He said Vizag had several infrastructural facilities, and vast land available. He said almost 10,000 acres acquired for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was available, as also 9.000 acres acquired for a Special Economic Zone.
He said that 12 to-wns surrounding Vizag can be used to set up various administrative divisions.
