Mysore: A 12-year-old girl, who was given for adoption, was sexually abused by her adopted father and grandfather for four years.

The girl was given for adoption by Bengaluru based Vatsalya Charitable Trust to a government veterinary doctor in Mandya in 2007. She alleged that her adopted father and grandfather had sexually abused her for almost four years, till she was returned to the same institution in 2011.

The incident came to light only when the trust reportedly decided to allow her adoption by an Italian couple, Mandya Town Police said.

A case has been registered under section 354 (outraging of modesty) and 376 (rape) of IPC and section 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 against the doctor and his father. The girl is now under the custody of Mysore district Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

Police said she was adopted in 2007. The Vatsalya Trust had received the child from Bengaluru CWC. In 2011, the doctor reportedly brought the girl back to the orphanage, as they were having trouble getting along.

The Institution recently decided to give the girl for a second adoption. Since it was an inter-country adoption, they reportedly approached the Bengaluru CWC for legal procedures.

Since the second adoption could not take place unless the first one was legally cancelled, the CWC approached their counterparts in Mandya, police said.

The girl was summoned to Mandya CWC for counselling, where she talked about the sexual abuse. Based on information from CWC, an FIR was filed and the doctor and his father were arrested. Now they are out on bail and the case is pending in the court, the police said.

Hyderabad: A new born girl was eaten by dogs on Sunday after she was dumped in a dustbin by her single mother at Siddipet in Medak district. Locals spotted the remains of the baby and informed the police. The police later arrested the mother.

Police said they received a call on the Dial 100 service on Sunday informing of a newborn child which was being devoured by wandering stray dogs.

Police checked the local hospitals and found the mother of the baby. She later admitted to dumping the baby as she didn’t want to bring up the child.

“The mother is a local labourer and was separated from her husband since the last 11 years. However, the baby was born recently and she dumped her as she didn’t want to raise the child as she was single,” inspector P. Nagabhushanam said.
“The baby was also born dead so that was another reason she dumped it,” the official added.

Police said they were still investigating the case and were trying to find out who fathered the child.

A case of concealment of birth and disposal of baby under Section 318 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been booked by police and the mother has been taken into custody.

Police officials said that the woman will be produced in court later for a hearing.

Chennai: A 25-year-old woman killed her two-year-old daughter and committed suicide by hanging herself in Thiruvottiyur on Sunday.

The victims, Revathy and her daughter Nanditha, were found dead at their house in Fathima Nagar, Thiruvottiyur, on Sunday afternoon by her relative. Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman was depressed after the death of her husband and was afraid of raising the girl child alone, police sources said.

The woman’s husband, Ganapathy, 29, a mechanic, died in a road accident near Sriperumbudur on October 7, the police added.

Revathy’s mother Thenmozhi, who stayed with her, had gone out on Saturday, when Revathy killed her child and later committed suicide.

“We suspect that she must have fed the child poison before committing suicide,” an official said. Thiruvottiyur police secured the bodies and sent them to Stanley hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.

Sex racket busted, two arrested

Hyderabad: The police busted a prostitution racket on Sunday which used the messaging service Whatsapp. A 26-year-old Delhi woman and a local 22- year-old engineering student were taken into custody by the police from the Urvasi Lodge in Panjagutta.

Police said the pimp used to canvass customers through Whatsapp and send them photos of women. The meetings would then be setup at the Urvasi Lodge. The manager of the hotel has also been arrested while pimp Peter is on the run.

Police said the sex racket was organised online and all communication were exchanged through Whatsapp. Photos of women were sent through Whatsapp and the charge and place was decided online. “This woman was also arranged like that.

Her photos were sent to the man on Whatsapp and then the woman came down from New Delhi to Hyderabad to meet the client,” sub inspector Khaleel Pasha said.

Cops also say this hints at the racket being spread across various cities. “We are still to get Peter. He organized the whole prostitution racket through Whatsapp so we will know what kind of people were his customers,” the cop added.

Cases have been booked under the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act.
