Tributes pour in for Sachin Tendulkar

Mumbai: In India cricket is the most challenging and competitive I game. Millions of us want to get a chance to be in top 11 of the country cricket team. Sachin sir has made a remarkable dent in this direction by maintaining his place in top 11 for quarter of century. Which is a all time record in the entire world.
I have a very small association with him when Sachin sir presented me BMW car on my winning of bronze medal in Olympics at London 2012.He praised me and appealed to young generation to follow me for getting well in sports. I am highly impressed with these words.
Now I am in China and he is stepping down from the active player of cricket for ever. It is a emotional moment , but we are proud of him in saying that he is the god of Cricket. We will remember his name for ever in sports. We wish him and his family all the best for the future life. Sachin Tendulkar is a legend because of his consistency over a long, challenging yet fruitful career. His 'Little Mastery' comes from his undying success as a top athlete. Each time he hit a rough patch, what was truly admirable was the conviction he had in himself to keep going.
Every failure made him bounce back stronger. That's the mark of a champion.
Wishing the legend and his family all the best.
-PANKAJ ADVANI champion cueist Congratulations for the Bharat Ratna... Now only humans will play cricket.
Sachin will be remembered not only as a cricketer, but as someone who changed the face of the country with his feats, his humble nature and unflinching sporting spirit. He is an inspiration for many of us.
I don't think the country will see another one like him in many generations.
-M.C. MARY KOM London Olympics bronze medallist boxer It is a great day that a sportsman has been given the honour of Bharat Ratna.
Everyone is aware of Sachin Tendulkar's achievements and we welcome the news.
Babuji's (Dhyan Chand) name was the first and the only one to be referred by the sports ministry. My question is not why Sachin Tendulkar, but why not Dhyan Chand too?
History tells us the importance of the Olympic Games and the gold medals, and if we forget that it is a little sad.
-ASHOK KUMAR legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand's son and mem ber of the 1975 World Cup winning squad.
Sushil Kumar: I consider him to be God... I first met Sachin Tendulkar in 2008 and after that he has continuously guided me to give my best. Whenever I feel low, I call him to pep myself up. He speaks so well and always motivates you to bring out the best in you. His retirement will create a void not in the country but in the world cricketing fraternity.
It will be very difficult to fill it. He is not just a great player or cricketer but also a humble human being. He is a gem of a person with a kind heart.
Sachin has given 24 years to the sport and immense fame to the country. He worked hard and sacrificed a lot to achieve those feats in his life. Every Olympian should learn from him. I really want to see him as our sports minister. He knows the ins and outs of the sports world, and will understand and treat all the athletes equally.
After the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, I met him at an event and touched his feet. He told me you also play for the country and have done a good job and keep doing that.
And when I spoke to him after claiming a silver at the 2012 London Olympics, I was just tongue-tied. For five minutes I kept saying 'yes sir, yes sir', because I didn't know what to say! I will always cherish each and every moment spent with him and will regret not seeing him play again.
Milkha Singh: Sachin should aim to become the sports minister S and that is quite possible. He is now an MP and he is well accepted. I'm sure he can be equally good as a minister. We must not draw into a debate to decide the greatest sportsperson in India. Undoubtedly, Sachin is the greatest cricketer and what he has done for the nation as a player is unique. But do not forget Dhyan Chand is the best Hockey player India has ever produced and you can count Milkha Singh and P T Usha in athletics.
Of course he should be given the Bharat Ratna. Ask the public, how many Bharat Ratna winners they would recognise. Hardly five or six if you ask me and if that is a sportsperson and if that is Sachin the whole country will approve.
