Kerala pocket six points with win
State defeat Tripura at home.
THALASSERY: For a while, it looked like the match will be extended to the final day but C.P. Shahid's impressive spin bowling (7/45) forced Tripura to set a meager target of 46 runs and Kerala snatched a nine-wicket win with ease on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Group 'C' match here on Saturday .
However, Kerala had to satisfy with only six points as the hosts squandered the bonus point, awarded for a 10-wicket win, when Nikhilesh Surendran went for a needless shot and was caught at long-off.
Eyeing an innings win, Kerala spinners mounted pressure on Tripura batsmen but the visitors played with more determination than their first innings.
Crafting a 46-run opening partnership, Tripura openers were sent back by C.P Shahid in successive overs to give Kerala an edge.
After the fall of the third wicket, Samrat Singha and Yogesh Takawale rose to the occasion to build a 118run fourth-wicket partnership. Takawale was in splendid form as he hit 81 runs, smashing six boundaries and five sixes.
