Directorate of Revenue Intelligence scans video footage of apartment

DRI officials yet to arraign the cine actor, alleged to have close links with the racketeers.

Kochi: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence is examining the video footage of the controversial apartment near Kundannoor where the racketeers of the Karipur gold smuggling case were staying.

This is in a bid to identify the people who arrived there and left with the smuggling case accused. However, the DRI officials said they were yet to arraign the cine actor, who is alleged to have close links with the racketeers in the case.

“There are still three or four to be arrested in this case. They have to be quizzed to see if the actor was part of the smuggling deals. He will be arraigned only after confirming his role. However, we are tracking the CCTV visuals to spot the people who were with the accused,” said a top source in the DRI.

The actor, who is also a representative of one of the film associations, is a close friend of Habeeb, the main accused in the gold smuggling case who was arrested from Chennai the other day.

The DRI has already sealed the apartment in which the accused was staying. There was also an allegation that the culprits had used the place for flesh trade. It was alleged that the kingpins of the racket were also running a sex racket parallel to the gold smuggling.

The people who stay close to the apartment had also told the police that many people, including women, used to visit the flat during late hours.
