'Biryani' all set for a December release

The Venkat Prabhu-directed film will be hitting the cinema halls on December 20

Karthi's next film, 'Biryani', was earlier touted to get released during Pongal which is around mid-January 2014.

But now it is officially announced by its maker Studio Green that the Venkat Prabhu-directed film will be hitting the cinema halls on December 20, which is the Christmas-New Year holiday season. The announcement comes no sooner than Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Kochadaiyaan's release date -January 10 -was made official a few days ago. Also, two more big films, Vijay's 'Jilla' and Ajith's 'Veeram', were slotted for a Sankranthi release.

According to a press note, 'Biryani', which is the 100th movie of Yuvan Shankar Raja, will be released on December 20, 2013 in time for the half-yearly school exam holidays so that kids can see it.

“'Biryani' is a stylish and vibrant thriller. I made sure that Venkat Prabhu does not take any liberties as a hero. It is only the making of the film that is given importance," Karthi had told DC in an earlier interview. Reportedly, Karthi has lent his vocals for a four-and-a-half minute song, composed by Yuvan for the movie in its Tamil as well as Telugu versions. While Hansika plays his love interest, Premgi Amaren, Ramki, Jayaprakash and Nasser have pivotal roles.
