Do you doubt the hidden powers of luscious strawberries?

Do you doubt the hidden powers of luscious strawberries? OK, then pause for a moment and take a fresh look at this red heart-shaped fruit. Strawberries have their own characteristic aromas, bright ruby colours, juicy textures and sweet tastes. No wonder, strawberries are widely appreciated for their tantalising features around the world. Consumed either fresh or in prepared foods with large quantities, strawberries can be generously used in preserves, fruit juice, pies, ice creams, milkshakes and chocolates. An artificial strawberry aroma is also largely applied in many industrialised food products. So don’t you ever underestimate it!

Winter is the season where markets are usually replete with green leafy fresh vegetables and colourful fruits. But one fruit that always catches our eyes is the strawberry. What is so special about about this luscious red fruit which nobody can stop raving about? Researchers have stated that this delicious little fruit is rich with the life-saving antioxidant of vitamin C and helps in fighting cancer cells very effectively. When combined with a first-class protein like milk, it scores as a high-resistance builder and a strong immunity booster. So you may call it a power drug if you wish.

Strawberries are typically sweet-n-tangy in taste that gel well with many other sweet and savoury foods to exude a mouth-watering flavour on your palate. Ripe strawberries can be best judged by their lustrous hue. So spot the fruit when its amazing pinkish tinge is most vibrant and rich in shine. A cup of fresh strawberries (equalling 150 gm) can reduce the unwanted blood sugar spike induced from even a simple sugar intake in a serving size of five to six teaspoons.

The dish for this season would therefore be strawberry sandesh which possesses the creamy texture of cottage cheese and the sweetness of strawberries, thus beating all other desserts in the process.
