Coach & mother soak in atmosphere

Watching Sachin bat were two important people; his coach Ramakant Achrekar and his mother Rajni.

Mumbai: After a dubious decision by Nigel Llong had cut short Sachin Tendulkar's steady run in his 199th Test, fans all over the country wanted the 44-year-old to be booted out of master's farewell Test. While that naturally did not happen, the Englishman won over many disgruntled fans when -in an extraordinary gesture -he joined the West Indies players for a guard of honour accorded to Tendulkar.

For once, even time stood still when the maestro took longer than usual to emerge out of the glass doors of the dressing room.
Decibel levels at the iconic ground had already hit a new high and when he took the field, the Wankhede roof almost came down with chants of “Sachiiiin Sachin..“
While the fans had reluctantly agreed for the moment, it seemed the Master had envisaged it and was rightly prepared. The willow was decked in tri-colour as he wanted to dedicate his career to the country . He also touched the pitch as mark of respect before taking the guard.
The bat was surely new but it was vintage “Tendlya“ show in the 32-run unbeaten stay in the middle. Watching him bat were two important people; his coach Ramakant Achrekar and his mother Rajni, who had come to watch her play for the first time.
Tendulkar walked back only when he knew that he had not let them down.
