KPCC president not to take action against Santosh Lad
KPCC president rules out action against minister Santosh Lad for illegal mining activities.
Hubli: KPCC president Dr. G Parameshwar on Wednesday ruled out action against infrastructure and information minister Santosh Lad saying the latter was not involved in illegal mining activities as per a report submitted by the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC).
Speaking to media persons here, he said “The company owned by Santosh Lad has been listed under ‘C’ category for dumping iron ore outside the area permitted to it. I have studied the documents thoroughly, and the party has come to a conclusion that charges against him are not related to illegal mining. Therefore, the Congress will stand by the decision of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to retain him.”
Dismissing reports of differences between the ruling party and the state government over the controversial anti-superstition bill, he said the party would support a thorough discussion involving intellectuals before a formal introduction of the legislation. He maintained that relations between party leaders and ministers were cordial but the former would not interfere in administrative matters.
Maintaining that the state unit of Congress was not unduly worried about the visit of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to Bengaluru, he said it would adopt its own strategy to motivate Congress workers at the grass-roots to counter the BJP. He said he has been attending meetings of district-level committees to redress the grievances of party workers. “We do not take note of Narendra Modi’s campaign in the state. He has been misleading people.”
