Birthday Exclusive: Mamta Mohandas
Mamta Mohandas was born on 14 November 1985 in Bahrain.
After her schooling from Bahrain, she completed her degree from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.
She began her career in 2005 with 'Mayookham' opposite Saiju Kurup. The following year, she was seen in six movies, including her debut in K'town with 'Sivappathigaram'.
In 2008, she appeared in a string of Telugu movies 'Krishnarjuna', 'Chintakayala Ravi', 'King', 'Homam' and 'Victory'.
She won her first Filmfare award for best actress for portraying a single mother trying to raise her daughter in 'Kadha Thudarunnu' opposite Jayaram.
She enjoyed wide recognition after her thriller movie 'Anwar' opposite Prithviraj. The actress even crooned a song for the flick!

She sang her first movie song in the Telugu flick 'Rakhi' that won her the playback singer award from Filmfare.
Her most recent movies were 'Celluloid', 'Ladies and Gentleman', 'Musafir' and 'Paisa Paisa'.
In 2010, Mamta was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, a form of cancer. But that didn't slow down the actress. She continued acting despite undergoing chemotherapy.
She married Bahrain-based businessman Prajith Padmanabhan in 2011 at a simple function in a private resort in Kozhikode.
But in 2013, she announced that they had filed for divorce. The duo submitted that there had been irreconcilable differences in their one-year old marriage and they could no longer live together.
Earlier this year, she confirmed there was a relapse of cancer in her and she is undergoing treatment. Mamta had said she didn't overreact to the illness. Instead, she took the diagnosis bravely. “The tough part is over; now I have to fight it.&rdqu
