Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan slams Amit Shah’s Wayanad ‘Pak jibe’

On the candidature of Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad, Vijayan said that he is just one of the 20 UDF candidates in the state.

Kalpetta: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has slammed BJP national president Amit Shah for calling Wayanad, from where Congress president Rahul Gandhi is contesting, as part of Pakistan.

“Shah is totally ignorant about the history of Wayanad,” said Mr Vijayan on Thursday while addressing a meeting held as part of the LDF roadshow for its candidate P.P. Suneer.

Amit Shah had told a rally in North India that the green flags waved by IUML workers during the roadshow held for Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad reminded him of Pakistan.

Vijayan said that Amit Shah’s comparison between Wayanad and Pakistan exposed his ignorance about the role played by the people of Wayanad against the British colonial powers during the freedom struggle.

“What does he know about Wayanad?” Vijayan asked. “It is from here the legendary warrior king Pazhassi Raja fought the British Raj,” he said.

On the candidature of Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad, Vijayan said that he is just one of the 20 UDF candidates in the state. The LDF is contesting to win as in other constituencies, he said and alleged that the UDF was getting support from RSS-BJP combine in many seats. He asked the workers to vote for Suneer, one of the best candidates, and defeat the UDF.
