Will slap you if water’s not given: B S Yeddyurappa

State BJP chief Yeddyurappa targets Lingasugur tahsildar for failing to provide drinking water to villagers.

Kalaburagi: State BJP Chief B.S. Yeddyurappa on Sunday lost his cool and warned the tahsildar of Lingasugur that he would get a slap for his failure to provide basic amenities mainly drinking water to the residents of a thanda in the taluk.

Mr Yeddyurappa, who is on a drought study tour of some parts of the state, lost his temper at Chattar Thanda in Lingasugur taluk, when the residents complained about the negligence of the tahsildar Chandrakanath in taking steps to supply them drinking water during summer.

Hundreds of residents had gathered to vent their woes when the BJP leader visited the place. The people complained that none of the schemes such as providing employment to farm labourers, drought relief work and supply of water were being properly implemented in the thanda.

The resident’s main grouse was against the Tahsildar Chandrakanth.

On hearing the complaints, Mr Yeddyurappa warned the officer to mend his ways and attend to the problems properly.

Later addressing the media at the thanda, he wondered why Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had embarked upon the "Grama Vastyavya programme? "There are many problems in the villages, they are being addressed by the officials. The problems will not be solved if the CM spends the night at a school or a farmer’s house. He should make the official machinery deliver the goods. The coalition government has totally failed to solve problems like supply of drinking water, providing employment and taking up drought relief work in the villages", Mr Yeddyurappa remarked.

When his attention was drawn to the ‘vindictive attitude’ of the CM towards the media, he remarked that Kumaraswamy could not browbeat the media. "We are with the media. We will fight for your cause in the coming session of the Legislature", Mr Yeddyurappa stated.
