Lebanese designer makes his best wedding gown yet

Elie Saab designed two dreamy wedding gowns for his daughter-in-law.

Elie Saab is synonymous with opulent and extravagant wedding gowns. His designs are very sought-after and are several women’s dreams to wear on their wedding days. Elie Saab is also known for iconic red carpet looks as well as features heavily on celebrity wardrobes.

With such a reputation in bridal wear, it was no surprise that Saab would come all guns blazing for his daughter-in-law’s wedding gown. And he designed not one, but two wedding dresses for her.

Elie Saab Jr. and Christina Mourad tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Lebanon. The ceremony spanned over three days and the bride wore several dresses by her father-in-law. The couple decided to tie the knot after three months of dating, but the organisation of the wedding and creating of the gown took longer than the courtship period.

Brides magazine reported that the dresses took 450 hours worth of embroidery, 150 hours with draping, and 200 hours of tailoring. The dress was a sleeveless tulle dress with over 500,000 sequins and a 14-foot long train. The evening reception gown had over 650,000 sequins and 150,000 Swarovski crystals.

"I felt at ease and could not get in better hands," Christina Mourad said. "We only had a few fittings. He understood my personality and created two gowns unique that suit perfectly who I am."

The design house’s Instagram account posted several pictures of the couple with the caption "In a touching ceremony filled with moments of anticipation and joy, @eliesjr & @kikamourad celebrated their nuptials yesterday at the patriarchate of Bkerke in Lebanon surrounded by family and friends," the caption read. "Wishing the couple eternal happiness and everlasting love in their future together #ElieKika"

"I met my father-in-law, Elie Saab, 10 years ago and told him on that day that I would like him to realise my wedding gown," Mourad told Brides. "Ten years after, my dream came true."
