India pledges 78 million Nepali rupees grant for 2 school projects in Nepal

The grant includes the construction of two school buildings.

Kathmandu: India on Friday said it will provide a grant of 78.15 million Nepali Rupees for the construction of two school buildings in western Nepal.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae laid foundation stone of the two school projects in Kaski district and assured the country of the grant assistance, a statement from the Indian embassy in Kathmandu said.

The grant includes construction of a building for Saraswati Tika Higher Secondary School at Lekhnath Municipality and another building for Gupteshwar Mahadev Multiple Campus at Pokhara, it said.

Saraswati Tika Higher Secondary School is one of the reputed schools in Kaski district and provides quality education to students from marginalised section of the society.

It has also been running classes for mentally retarded children from pre-primary to higher secondary level. The Gupteshwar Mahadev Multiple Campus is a non-profit public campus affiliated to Tribhuvan University.

Around 400 students, mostly girls, enrol in bachelors courses in the field of business studies and education in the campus every year.

India routinely takes developmental projects in Nepal and also provides monetary grants for the financing of various critical projects.

Last month, India has pledged financial assistance worth 39.97 million Nepali Rupees for the construction of a new building and a hostel facility at a Sanskrit school in eastern Nepal.

India is also helping Nepal with post earthquake reconstruction work for which it has assured Nepal USD 1 billion in assistance.
