Dhaka: Poor drainage system in Bangladesh’s capital resulted in water-logging after heavy rainfall on Tuesday, following which streams of bloody water flowed through the streets of the city as rainwater blended with the waste and blood of animals sacrificed on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
According to a report in BBC, Dhaka witnessed heavy rainfall on Tuesday, when close to 100,000 livestock were sacrificed mainly on the streets or at car parking areas in residential buildings.

Poor drainage has often resulted in flooding in several parts of Dhaka and as festivities involving animal sacrifice often collide with monsoons, residents in the city were not surprised to see the bloody streams flowing through the lanes and streets.
Some residents, however, criticised the officials for the faulty drainage system.

As thousands of animals are sacrificed every year on Eid al-Adha, streets are often left blood-stained. It is, however, washed away by the rain in a few days.
