First air strikes on Syria since truce: monitor

Head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the strikes were conducted by either Syrian or Russian planes.

Beirut: A key rebel bastion east of the Syrian capital was hit by at least two air strikes on Friday, in the first aerial bombardment there since a fragile truce began, a monitor said.

"Two air strikes hit the edge of the town of Douma in Eastern Ghouta and one person was killed," said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

He said the strikes were conducted by either Syrian or Russian planes, and could not identify whether the individual killed was a civilian or a fighter.
