Elderly Japanese man pushes stranger in front of approaching train in UK

The man reportedly waited at the platform for more than 45 minutes before he attacked the young lady.

London: In a horrifying incident, an elderly man has been accused of pushing a young woman in front of an approaching train, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The incident took place in London's Piccadilly Circus underground station.

Identified as Yoshiyuki Shinohara, 82, the man was waiting at the platform for more than 45 minutes before he attacked the young woman.

The victim, Sheetal Kerai, was waiting at the platform for a train when Shinohara brutally attacked and pushed her in front of an approaching train.

Luckily, Kerai was able to bounce on the off side of the drivers carriage and save herself. She sustained minor injuries after the narrow escape and landed back on the platform safely.

A case of attempt to murder has been registered against Shinohara, but the court found him unfit to enter a plea. The jury took merely 18 minutes to figure out that Shinohara had deliberately pushed the woman.

Blackfriars Crown Court said that the trail will continue on May 27.
