Irish dad raped son from age of 6, locked him in a wooden crate; jailed for 14 yrs

Dublin: An Irish father has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to raping his son for over seven years. The victim who is now 13-years-old, said that his father began abusing him since he was six-years-old.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the father was also accused of raping his son with a poker and locking him up in a wooden crate at their home in Waterford, south east Ireland.

While the case was under trial at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin, the victim told the jury that on one occasion he saw his father assembling a wooden box and asked him what it was for, to which the accused said 'its for you'. He then pushed the victim inside the box and locked him up.

The victim said that he was released from the box by his mother three hours later.

The accused has been convicted for nine counts of rape and one count of child endangerment and cruelty. However, he was acquitted of raping the victim with a poker.

Although the accused has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, he has been registered on the sex offenders list. Upon his release from jail, he will be subjected to a four-year supervision order.

The victim has currently been placed at a specialised care centre in UK.
